Stem- rough chrome Handlebars- 22" wide with rough chrome Crankset- steel 1 piece Schwinn built cranks with the 5 heart design skiptooth chainring Pedals- steel block pedals with the blocks. There is even a nice handle off the back of the saddle bolted to the seat frame. Needs a recover but the springs are in good shape. Measurements: Seat Tube- 18" Top Tube- 23" Stand-over Height- 31" Specifications: Saddle- Person's saddle. Rear rack is not quite original to the bike. Mirror and wald front basket are both included. Also notice that the fenders are a solid color with only a few pinstripes- no white large arrows/triangles. This one has the feathered chainguard paired with a skiptooth drivetrain. Almost an exact twin to the Schwinn Hornet from 1952. This bicycle was built by Schwinn but badged as a Spitfire. more Considering the amount of time necessary to bring this puppy up to show level. Overall appearance is slightly underwhelming. Hubs will need an overhaul to be road worthy(and to stop) Missing some spokes also. The chainguard is starting to show lots of wear, dents, scratches, and mars. The fenders are also scratched and dented and slightly mangled.

Rare, vintage bike that wouldn't take too much to make rideable, and has a lot of what would be needed for a full restoration. All that said, it is being sold as-is, as-pictured, please ask any questions. Dings, scratches, and some surface rust throughout. The seat covering is rough but the seat frame and springs are in good working order.

Both hold air but are cracked and need replacing. The front tire is a Western Flyer, and the rear is a Schwinn Typhoon brick pattern. Both fenders have bends/dings/holes and need attention. One of the rear fender braces is also broken. more braces were broken and crudely welded back together. Handlebars and dogleg cranks are good and straight. The frame/fork is in good shape, no bends or cracks etc. Mechanically everything works fine, but it needs some tuning/tightening. They are'S-2 style' rims, but they are not tubular, and not knurled(hubside or tireside) or stamped, so I don't know for sure if they are original, but they certainly appear to be. It has been repainted red a long time ago. The pedals and grips(pre-war ball end grips, one is missing the back) are not original. The chain is not frozen, and seems to be strong. New Departure rear coaster brake hub, Schwinn script front hub, and a Troxel three spring seat. It is a 1951(Serial number H46024 ) DX style frame. Up for auction is a 20" Boys Schwinn bicycle.
